This morning, the Holy See Press Office announced that Pope Francis rested well through the night and is now taking time to recover.
“The Pope had a good night’s sleep and is currently resting,” the statement noted.
On Wednesday evening, the Press Office reported a slight enhancement in the Pope’s health status compared to the previous 24 hours.
“The mild kidney insufficiency noted in recent days has diminished,” the statement expressed. “A chest CT scan performed on Tuesday night indicated a normal progression of lung inflammation, and blood tests conducted on Wednesday corroborated the improvements seen the day before.”
Pope Francis continues to receive high-flow oxygen therapy; however, as of Wednesday evening, he has not faced any asthma-like respiratory episodes.
The Holy See Press Office emphasizes that the Pope’s prognosis remains “guarded.”
Pope Francis was admitted to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome on Friday, February 14, following a case of bronchitis, which subsequently led to a diagnosis of bilateral pneumonia.
