Last week, the Jaguars made a significant addition to their leadership team by appointing James Gladstone as their new General Manager. This marks their third major hire of the offseason.

Gladstone will work alongside head coach Liam Coen and executive vice president of football operations Tony Boselli, forming a new management group for a franchise that finished last season with a record of 4-13. This shift represents a departure from the recent trend, as former leaders Doug Marrone, Urban Meyer, and Doug Pederson all came with extensive head coaching backgrounds, while Trent Baalke was serving in his second stint as General Manager.

Although the new leadership trio will be stepping into their roles for the first time in 2025, former management did not lead the team to the desired outcomes, which made it less surprising when owner Shad Khan addressed the lack of prior experience during a press conference on Monday.

“I believe they are collectively poised for remarkable success,” Khan stated through the team’s website. “We understand they are newcomers, but they possess immense potential for growth. I’m genuinely excited about this team. The unique blend of their skills and experiences is going to create a powerful synergy. This group comprises capable football executives ready to thrive. It’s not merely about having a specified number of years in a role — oftentimes, that translates to one year of experience repeated multiple times. The collective intellect here is bound to benefit the Jaguars tremendously.”

Additionally, the Jaguars will be welcoming new coordinators for both the offensive and defensive teams, signifying that the shift towards a new direction encompasses all levels of the organization as they embrace a fresh beginning.
