The Cleveland Browns have decided to part ways with safety Juan Thornhill.

Thornhill, who previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs and was a key player during their Super Bowl run, signed a three-year contract with Cleveland. However, the Browns are now looking to move on from their starting free safety after only two seasons. Thornhill will enter free agency as he seeks his next opportunity in the NFL.

His time in Cleveland was largely affected by a persistent calf injury, causing him to miss 12 out of 34 games. This was disappointing for fans who were eager to see a strong centerfield presence added to the defense—a goal that ultimately did not materialize for the Browns.

The Browns’ need for a safety has heightened, especially with the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft and the NFL combine approaching swiftly. It remains to be seen whether they will pursue options in free agency again for a safety or focus on drafting a promising young talent in April.
