This week, an update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 hinted at the return of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Within the skate park map known as The Grind, players noticed a banner featuring the THPS logo alongside the date “03.04.25.” Furthermore, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater official site has launched a countdown clock leading up to March 4, 2025, suggesting an announcement could be on the horizon.

The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater debuted from Activision in September 1999. Although the 25th anniversary celebrations have recently passed, Hawk mentioned last year that he had been in discussions with Activision to commemorate this significant milestone. He confirmed that the beloved franchise will indeed continue.

If exciting news about the future of THPS is on the way, two possibilities seem most likely. The first could be another remake similar to the 2020 release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, which reignited interest in the classic series. There are predictions that a remaster of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 may follow. However, a more exciting prospect would be a brand-new installment of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, as the last completely original game was 2015’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. Additionally, previous reports suggested that the next Tony Hawk game could be released as early as this summer, making the timing of an announcement seem likely.

Former CEO of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Kotick, recounts that Hawk was experiencing tough times when he negotiated the deal for the first installment of Pro Skater. Thankfully, Hawk has since found success and stability, and we are excited to witness the future of this iconic gaming franchise with the advancements of the current generation of consoles.
