Apple has just unveiled the initial developer betas for a new set of software updates, and early users have discovered a feature called Priority Notifications in the preview for iOS 18.4. This innovative feature, powered by Apple Intelligence, utilizes on-device processing to identify notifications that are particularly significant and organizes them into a distinct section above the standard notifications.
As reported by 9to5Mac, this Priority Notifications feature is disabled by default in the initial developer beta. However, users can activate it through a toggle found in the notifications section of the settings menu.
What remains unclear, however, are the specifics regarding an enhanced version of Siri. There have been reports indicating challenges and delays surrounding the development of a smarter assistant. The latest press release simply states, “Apple Intelligence will grow with new features in the upcoming months, including expanded capabilities for Siri.”
For iPhone users, the iOS 18.4 beta also introduces a new application designed for Vision Pro owners, allowing them to explore the app store, queue videos for viewing, and install applications from afar. Additionally, a redesigned Mail app has been identified for both Macs and iPads. Furthermore, Apple has recently launched a new section in Apple News Plus dedicated to food on iPhones and iPads, presenting “tens of thousands of recipes” optimized for mobile use.
