In a recent newsletter to subscribers of Gemini Advanced, Google shared an exciting preview of the features set to arrive in the upcoming months.
The “February Newsletter” highlights that the premium Google AI service is available for $19.99 per month. It kicks off with a summary of the latest experimental model launches, emphasizing their distinctions:
- Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental: “The pinnacle of our AI models for this new generation, offering enhanced accuracy and performance for both coding and mathematical tasks. Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental is designed to assist you in tackling intricate projects with improved precision.”
- Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking: “Harnessing the speed of 2.0 Flash, this experimental model reveals its thought process continuously. Users can delve deeper to understand its responses, assumptions, and the reasoning behind its conclusions.”
The newsletter also mentions the recent introduction of recall features within the Gemini app and NotebookLM Premium.

This latest Gemini Advanced newsletter also made an intriguing comment about “more exciting updates just around the corner,” especially within the next few months. Subscribers are encouraged to view this subscription as “your access to Google’s next-generation AI,” implying that these upcoming features could extend beyond just the Gemini application.
- “Discover innovative methods to create with industry-leading tools for video, image, and audio generation.”
The Gemini app currently includes access to Imagen 3, which was last updated in January, while Veo 2 remains in a Google Labs waitlist. The mention of audio generation likely refers to technologies like MusicLM and/or Lyria. It would be fascinating if Gemini Advanced offered priority access to these tools, whether standalone or integrated into the Gemini suite.
- “Enhance productivity with tools that can act on your behalf, allowing you to spend time on what matters most.”
Concerning agentic tools, there’s Project Mariner, which CEO Sundar Pichai previously indicated would be introduced to the Gemini app in some capacity this year. Additional agentic functionalities could also be available within Google Workspace, demonstrated during I/O 2024, showcasing how you can “ask Gemini to automatically organize email attachments in Drive, generate spreadsheets with the data, and then analyze it using Data Q&A.”
- “Tackle more complex challenges with new model enhancements and access to experimental models designed for superior performance.”
The final point is clear-cut; Gemini 2.0 Pro will eventually become the default model for Advanced subscribers. It will be interesting to observe how Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking is rolled out for users.
