The Nokia Lumia 1020 is making a comeback—well, sort of. A clever tech enthusiast has transformed an Apple iPhone SE 3 by encasing it in the iconic Lumia 1020 shell, resulting in a unique creation dubbed the “NokiApple LumiPhone 1020 SE.” This innovative smartphone not only works flawlessly but also boasts an impressive aesthetic.
However, this device is more than just an iPhone SE in an old disguise. The Reddit user OceanDepth95028 enhanced the project by integrating the iPhone’s internals with a functional fingerprint reader on the back. They also customized a SIM card slot and cleverly designed the Lightning port to resemble a micro-USB port.
Modder fits a 2022 iPhone into a 2013 Lumia 1020 body. Everything inside the device is from the 2022 iPhone SE 3, the last iPhone with rounded edges and a physical home button. “The only aspect from the 1020 is the outer shell and display glass.” https://t.co/jdMcf7LjCK pic.twitter.com/9FfPixbmsz

This remarkable device not only functions well but also supports 5G connectivity and receives over-the-air updates. This is logical, given that it’s essentially a working iPhone SE 3. While modifying the design, the creator rearranged some buttons for a proper fit and even repurposed the camera button to function as a volume toggle or shutter release.
With the A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone SE 3, this hybrid phone can handle modern applications effortlessly. Despite being a one-off endeavor, the designer believes this phone could serve as a practical everyday device. However, there are a couple of drawbacks: Apple Pay and wireless charging are not operational. Yet, just look at how stunning this phone is, thanks to the original Lumia 1020’s design.
For those unfamiliar with its history, the Nokia Lumia 1020 launched in the latter half of 2013 and gained popularity as one of the standout devices running the now-obsolete Windows Phone OS, renowned for its distinctive design and exceptional camera capabilities. Meanwhile, the iPhone SE stands as Apple’s affordable smartphone option, with rumors swirling about a new iteration set to be announced soon.
