On Monday afternoon, a Delta Air Lines passenger aircraft unexpectedly crash-landed at Toronto’s airport, ending up upside down on the runway, with significant damage to its tail and one wing.

Fortunately, all 80 individuals on board managed to evacuate safely. While at least 18 passengers sustained injuries—several of which were serious—they were not deemed life-threatening.

Authorities are currently probing into the circumstances surrounding this incident, which took place in the midst of strong winds and falling snow.

Pete Koukov, a professional skier from Colorado, was aboard Flight 4819 and reported nothing out of the ordinary during the aircraft’s final approach.

“The moment the wheels touched down, chaos erupted,” said Koukov, 28, in an evening interview. “Before I realized it, we were on our side.”
