A Delta Air Lines flight originating from Minneapolis made an emergency landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, resulting in the aircraft coming to rest upside down on the runway.

The incident led to 18 individuals being transported to hospitals for treatment, but fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities.

This flight, designated Endeavor 4819, was operated by Endeavor Air, which is a regional subsidiary of Delta located in Minneapolis. The flight took off from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport shortly after 11:34 a.m. local time, running about an hour behind schedule, and encountered difficulties upon landing in Toronto around 2:15 p.m. Eastern Time, as indicated by Delta.

One of the passengers, Ashley Zook, was on a business trip to Toronto. Her brother, James Zook, shared that she had connected with their family and had posted a video of the event on Snapchat, reassuring them that she was safe and doing well.

“I’m relieved that my sister is okay, and I’m thankful that all the passengers are fine,” James noted.

Among the 80 passengers aboard, at least 17 sustained injuries; however, none were deemed life-threatening. Deborah Flint, the CEO of Toronto Pearson International Airport, stated at a news conference that an additional passenger was later transported for care, raising the total to 18. By late Monday evening, Delta confirmed that some of the injured passengers had already been released from the hospital.

Flint made her remarks after the Associated Press reported on the injuries, including mentions of three individuals in critical condition. She acknowledged the quick response of first responders at the airport, highlighting their efforts in assisting passengers and crew following the emergency landing.
