The Louisville men’s basketball team has achieved a significant milestone, recording its first 20-win season since before the pandemic.
The Cardinals clinched this achievement with a commanding 75-60 victory over Notre Dame on Sunday night in South Bend. This marked U of L’s 12th road win by a margin of 10 points or more, tying them for the highest number in Division I this season.
Leading the charge for Louisville was Chucky Hepburn, who delivered an impressive performance with 16 points, six assists, and three steals. Defensively, Hepburn also effectively pressured the ACC’s top scorer, Markus Burton, forcing him into a season-high six turnovers.
Each of U of L’s five starters contributed significantly, scoring in double digits. Terrence Edwards led with 14 points, followed by Reyne Smith with 12 and J’Vonne Hadley with 10. James Scott also made a notable impact, scoring 10 points and securing 10 rebounds, marking his fourth double-double of the season.
With this latest victory, Louisville has not only recorded its 54th 20-win season in its history but also secured at least one bye in the upcoming ACC tournament next month.
Reflect for a moment on how this would have sounded just 12 or 24 months ago.
It’s almost surreal. Fortunately, the journey is far from over.
