Have you ever considered how a Windows Phone, particularly the Lumia 1020, might function if it were equipped with iOS? While it might not be a common thought, this intriguing project showcases the possibilities of running iOS on an unconventional device, which truly caught my attention.

A user on the r/hackintosh subreddit recently shared an innovative endeavor: they modified an iPhone SE 3 to fit within the shell of a Nokia Lumia 1020. This unique transformation highlights the charm of the Lumia, even though its usability is limited now that Windows Phone has been discontinued.

When referring to the iPhone SE 3’s internals, I mean all of its components have been seamlessly integrated into the Lumia 1020’s design. This includes the impressive 12MP rear camera, haptic feedback engine, and the Touch ID sensor. It even retains features like the SIM card tray and flash, with 5G capabilities still intact.

Interestingly, the Lightning port has been incorporated into the Lumia 1020, offering an upgrade since the original model utilized a microUSB connection. Touch ID has been cleverly relocated to the back of the phone to keep with the Lumia’s aesthetic.

Additionally, the Lumia 1020’s design includes a distinct camera shutter button, akin to the proposed Camera Control feature expected in the iPhone 16. Although integrating an extra button into the iPhone’s structure alongside maintaining software compatibility poses a challenge, the creator ingeniously managed to keep this functionality.

Instead of a traditional shutter button, there’s a second volume down button that performs the task of capturing images within the camera application. This is a creative workaround, don’t you think?

In summary, this project has successfully maintained the core features of the Nokia Lumia 1020, and I’m genuinely impressed by the execution. While the loss of the headphone jack is a notable downside, the overall transformation is quite captivating.
