Pope Francis has experienced a restful night and is reportedly showing “no fever,” according to the latest update from the Vatican as he continues his recovery from bronchitis at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.

The pontiff was admitted on Friday after dealing with bronchitis symptoms for several days. Upon arrival, he was diagnosed with a respiratory tract infection and exhibited a mild fever.

After spending the night under medical care, the pope’s treatment plan was slightly adjusted due to “further microbiological findings,” with the Vatican noting that test results from Saturday indicated improvements in certain health indicators.

“This morning, he received the holy Eucharist and alternated periods of rest with moments of prayer and reading,” the Vatican reported.

To aid his recovery, medical personnel have advised complete rest. Consequently, Pope Francis will not lead the Angelus prayer on Sunday, Feb. 16; however, he plans to share the text for its publication, as stated by the Holy See Press Office.

The pope is aware of the many supportive messages he has received and expresses heartfelt gratitude while requesting ongoing prayers for his health, according to the Vatican’s statement.
