The NBA is gearing up for an exciting 2025 All-Star Weekend in San Francisco, where the Golden State Warriors will host this highly anticipated three-day event through Sunday evening. This marks the first occasion since 2000 that the Bay Area has played host to this prestigious showcase, and some exciting new changes are set to unfold.
This year, the NBA has introduced a brand-new format for the All-Star Game. Players have been divided into three teams of eight, drafted by legends Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith. Team Chris Mullin, which emerged victorious in the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday, will join the other All-Star teams to compete in a mini single-elimination tournament on Sunday night.

In the semifinals, Kenny’s Young Stars will go head-to-head against Chuck’s Global Stars, while Shaq’s OGs will compete against Candace’s Rising Stars, also known as Team Mullin. The victors will square off in the championship game to earn the title of 2025 NBA All-Star champions. Each matchup will consist of teams vying to reach 40 points first to claim victory.
Action on Saturday includes the exhilarating Skills Challenge, 3-Point Shootout, and Slam Dunk Contest.
Additionally, the league announced that Warriors icon Steph Curry and New York Liberty standout Sabrina Ionescu will not participate in their highly-anticipated one-on-one 3-point shootout this year since negotiations didn’t yield a concept that exceeded last year’s excitement.
