A tragic incident in Austria has resulted in the death of a teenager and left four others injured following a knife attack. The event occurred at approximately 4:00 PM local time (3:00 PM GMT) near the main square in Villach, a town situated in the southern part of the country, near the borders with Italy and Slovenia.

Local reports indicate that the deceased was just 14 years old, and while the details regarding the condition of the injured are currently unclear, they are receiving treatment. Authorities have detained a suspect identified as a Syrian asylum seeker, according to an AFP report citing a police spokesperson.

Police spokesman Rainer Dionisio provided further details, stating, “A man randomly attacked passers-by with a knife.” This unsettling incident has raised concerns within the community and highlighted issues surrounding public safety.
