In a tragic incident at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona, just east of Phoenix, one individual has lost their life, and several others have sustained injuries after a small business jet collided with a stationary aircraft on Monday afternoon.

The aircraft involved was owned by Vince Neil, the lead singer of Mötley Crüe, as confirmed by a representative for the artist. Worrick Robinson, the spokesperson, stated that Neil was not present during the incident.

According to Kelli Kuester, a city spokesperson, the crash resulted in one fatality and left three individuals injured, a decrease from initial reports which stated four had been hurt. The injured have since been transported to local hospitals.

Emergency responders are currently working to recover the body of the deceased, as noted by Scottsdale Fire Department Captain David Folio. Authorities have yet to disclose the identities of those involved in the incident.

As confirmed by Robinson, the plane owned by Neil was occupied by two pilots and two passengers at the time of the crash.

The Learjet 35A, which was arriving from Austin, Texas, reportedly strayed off the runway and collided with a parked Gulfstream G200 jet, according to Kuester during a news briefing on Monday.

“It seems that there was a failure with the left main gear upon landing which led to the accident,” she explained.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is on-site and overseeing the investigation into this incident, as confirmed by Kuester. In response to an inquiry from CNN, the NTSB has stated that it is currently investigating the matter.

Scottsdale Airport is a well-frequented destination for private jets in the Phoenix area, especially during major events like the recent Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament, which claims to be the largest zero-waste sporting event globally.

Following the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily halted flights into the single-runway airport, though a subsequent update from Scottsdale Airport’s X account indicated that the runway reopened later on Monday.

This crash adds to a string of recent aviation tragedies, including a deadly midair collision near Washington, DC, that resulted in the loss of all 67 lives on both aircraft, as well as the crash of a medevac jet in Philadelphia that claimed seven lives.
