Ashley St. Clair, a 26-year-old right-wing social media influencer known for her contributions to the satirical news platform The Babylon Bee and her frequent appearances on Fox News, made headlines late Friday night by announcing on X that she has welcomed a child with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
In her post, she stated, “Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father. I have withheld this information to ensure our child’s privacy and safety, but recent events have shown that tabloid media are determined to reveal this story, despite the potential harm.”
St. Clair concluded her message by urging journalists to respect their child’s privacy and avoid intrusive reporting. She accompanied her statement with the Latin phrase “Alea iacta est,” translating to “The die is cast.” The impetus behind St. Clair’s announcement remains unclear, including which media outlet or article sparked her remarks.
Support poured in from conservative figures such as Jack Posobiec, his spouse Tanya Tay, Mike Cernovich, and Candace Owens, who expressed their solidarity via X.
“Children should always be off limits,” remarked Owens, who has faced accusations of antisemitism in the past, before adding: “Journalists are parasites.” In response to Cernovich’s assertion that “There is no low to which the media won’t sink,” St. Clair remarked, “Doxxing a baby is pretty much the lowest of the low.”
Musk, who has not yet responded to St. Clair’s announcement, is already the father of twelve children with three different women. His family includes six kids from his first marriage to Justine, three with musician Grimes, and three with Shivon Zilis, the former director of operations at Neuralink—the youngest of whom was born in June 2024.
Grimes, who shares a child, X Æ A-12, with Musk, has been vocal about her discomfort regarding Musk’s public appearances with their son. In response to a recent incident at the White House, she stated on X, “He should not be in public like this.”
Despite St. Clair’s announcement, Musk has been very active on social media since her post, hinting that he may have parenting on his mind:
Further investigation by internet users has revealed a tweet from Musk directed at St. Clair, which was a response to her November 2023 comment about how discontinuing birth control and Adderall improved her mental health. Musk replied simply with, “For sure.”
St. Clair has also shared a follow-up message, expressing gratitude for the supportive responses and reiterating her belief that “Kids should be off limits for journalists.”
The Daily Beast has reached out to Musk through his attorney for further comments.
