The University of Notre Dame is in the final stages of securing a contract for Mike Martin, the director of scouting advancement for the Detroit Lions, to take on the role of general manager for the Fighting Irish football program, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
During his tenure with the Lions, Martin was instrumental in forming their front office, contributing significantly to the rebuilding of the team’s roster. With a vision to integrate an NFL-level approach, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman is enticing Martin to South Bend.
Martin’s appointment comes after Chad Bowden’s departure to assume the general manager position at USC just last month.
