Tyreek Hill, the dynamic wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, and Noah Lyles, the Olympic champion in the 100-meter dash, have officially confirmed their intention to race each other.
In an exclusive interview with People, both athletes expressed their excitement for the upcoming challenge, though they did not disclose specifics regarding the date, location, or distance of the race.
Hill emphasized his role in representing elite NFL athletes, stating, “We can enter your sport and dominate whenever we choose.”
In response, Lyles asserted that Hill wouldn’t be able to compete on the track at his level, declaring, “Many claim they are the quickest, but only one can consistently achieve victory. I have proven myself at the Olympics and world championships, showcasing my speed when it counts. If I have to race Tyreek to solidify my title as the fastest, I will do so.”
While Hill suggested a desire to race over a distance of 40 yards, Lyles preferred the 100-meter sprint. Both athletes pointed out that their competition might fall somewhere between these two distances. Regardless of the outcome, a matchup between Hill and Lyles is sure to capture widespread attention, even if the odds favor Lyles.
