The Igloo 90-quart cooler model has been recalled across North America due to safety concerns, specifically related to injuries caused by the product’s handles, including severe cases like fingertip amputations, as reported by U.S. and Canadian government agencies.
This recall affects the Igloo 90-Quart Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers, announced on Thursday following 12 reports of significant fingertip injuries—ranging from amputations to fractures and cuts—by consumers in the United States, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
According to Igloo, “The tow handle can inadvertently pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler, leading to serious risks of amputation and crushing injuries.”
The recall encompasses approximately 1.06 million coolers sold in the U.S., alongside 47,000 units in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico. These coolers were available at retailers such as Costco, Target, and Amazon.com from January 2019 through January 2025, as indicated by the product safety commission.
Headquartered in Katy, Texas, Igloo advises customers to discontinue use of the affected coolers and contact the company for a complimentary replacement handle.
This recall pertains to coolers manufactured prior to January 2024. The production date can be located on the bottom of the cooler. These products, made in the United States, were available under various brands including Latitude and Maxcold, and retailed between $80 and $140.
