During his introductory press conference on Thursday, Texans offensive coordinator Nick Caley addressed inquiries regarding the offensive strategy he intends to implement in Houston.
Caley emphasized that the approach won’t simply be “my spin,” explaining, “we’re not going to force a square peg into a round hole.” He affirmed that the new scheme will be specifically tailored to utilize the strengths of the players, highlighting that one individual will play a pivotal role in this design.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud, whom Caley referred to as a “remarkable talent,” was the focus of his attention as he elaborated on what sets the 2023 first-round pick apart.
“He has a powerful arm,” Caley noted. “He throws the football with impressive accuracy and has a natural ability for it. He’s instinctual and possesses that intangible ‘it factor.’ His competitiveness is warrior-like, and I’ve admired his game since his collegiate years. I’m truly excited about the chance to work with him.”
Caley’s arrival in Houston comes after Stroud and the Texans’ offense experienced a significant regression following his stellar rookie performance. Achieving a swift turnaround could be crucial for maintaining the Texans’ status near the top of the division.
