SEGA has officially unveiled the announcement trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, along with exciting new information on what Sonic enthusiasts can anticipate from this latest addition to the racing genre.
This game promises to feature the “largest” character roster ever seen in a Sonic Racing title, including beloved characters from across the SEGA universe! Players can look forward to an extensive selection of vehicles, allowing for customizable combinations of “parts, powers, and abilities”.
In addition, CrossWorlds introduces “Travel Rings” to transport racers between various locations, with the leading racer selecting the next destination during the second lap while navigating through diverse terrains: land, sea, and air. Each race is further enhanced by an engaging RPG-like gadget feature, which enables players to equip and combine items before hitting the track.
SEGA has also announced the return of “Extreme Gear,” first introduced in Sonic Riders. In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, this gear will provide a boost-focused racing experience. Sonic Team’s Creative Officer, Takashi Iizuka, expressed his excitement about the game’s unique blend of new and classic elements (like the All-Stars Racing Transformed feature) from the Sonic Racing series:
Takashi Iizuka: “In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, we aimed to introduce the innovative concept of racing through different worlds as players traverse via Travel Rings. We also wanted fans of our previous Sonic Racing titles to have an enjoyable experience, so we integrated many familiar elements from past games. Features like Extreme Gear from the Sonic Riders series and the Transform abilities from the All-Stars Racing series have been included, resulting in a fantastic compilation of all Sonic Racing games to date. I genuinely hope all players enjoy Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.”
