On February 10, 2025, during a flight from Joint Base Andrews to Stuttgart aboard a C-17, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth officially signed a memorandum to rename Fort Liberty in North Carolina to Fort Roland L. Bragg. This new designation honors Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a distinguished World War II veteran who was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his bravery in the Battle of the Bulge. The rebranding emphasizes the base’s commitment to recognizing individuals who have shown remarkable service and dedication to the nation.
