LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – It is with profound sadness that UNLV announces the passing of Ben Christman, a talented student-athlete in the football program.
Ben, who had recently transferred to UNLV, was discovered deceased in an off-campus residence on Tuesday morning. His family has been informed, and the athletic department has reached out to the team. Support services for mental health and related needs are available for those affected.
At this moment, we do not have additional information. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will provide details on the cause of death at a later date.

Statement from President Keith E. Whitfield:
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the premature loss of Ben Christman. Words cannot fully express the heartbreak of losing a member of our university community so unexpectedly at such a tender age. My heartfelt condolences go out to all who knew and cherished him. On behalf of UNLV, we extend our sincere sympathies to Ben’s family, friends, and teammates during this tragic time.”
Statement from Director of Athletics Erick Harper:
“The unexpected passing of Ben Christman has left us heartbroken. A recent addition to our football program and the UNLV family, Ben had already started to make a significant impact on his teammates and coaches. Our condolences and thoughts are with his family, friends, and teammates at this very challenging time. Counseling services are available for anyone who needs support.”
Statement from Head Football Coach Dan Mullen:
“The loss of Ben has left a void in our hearts. From the moment he arrived on campus just a month ago, Ben contributed to enhancing the Rebels program. His immediate respect and camaraderie earned him a place on our Leadership Committee. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to everyone who knew him. Ben had a positive impact on those around him and will be deeply missed.”
